Design Oversight 2022

CRM Library Creation & Playbook

Introduction

Our team’s goal was to build a working figma library for a consistent and creative, plug and play experience for building CRM emails across Meta Reality Labs content. We built a library and playbook as a handoff to the Meta Reality Lab’s team in order to optimize our current workflow and be able to work through already approved layouts. The in-depth playbook goes over best practices, design guidelines, designing for dark mode in emails, and a section for developement handoff. The CRM library is composed of atoms, molecules, components, and templates. Example templates were even made and separated by type or by number of section.

The Challenge

Much of the challenge came from our lack of being able to test emails early on in dark mode as it was budgeted in phase three of our project timeline. Nevertheless we were able to use our best judgement to recreate our own versions for dark mode which significantly lessened the amount of back and forth for adjustments when we did finally get to testing with development.

The Solution

My role in this project was lead designer since I had experience on the CRM team designing for Meta Quest, Meta Portal, and Oculus for Developers emails in the past. I gave feedback and made sure all asks from the brief were met each round. I also presented progress for our design system and our reasonings every week for a month. The two awesome designers who created the components and templates were Leo Ferrer and Gino Bottini.
