Art Direction/Visual Design 2021-2022

Portal

Introduction

From the beginning to the end, our team at Media.Monks helped build, shape, and systematize the Portal brand for optimal platform ad experiences. Our team grew from only a few designers to an entire dedicated Portal account with multiple designers and an outsourced production team. We won the pitch at the start of the year in 2021 and have retained work and scope until the announcement of Portal’s product phasing out in the summer of 2022.

The Challenge and Results

There were many trials throughout 2021 when the team was still small and the output for ads with translation adaptations was laborious. Through our beginning processes in sharing explorations with Portal’s evolving brand, we were able to help mold patterns and build consistency with the client’s feedback. From static stills, our scope expanded to working on campaign commercials for Portal’s new and exisiting products to promote the brand. This was quite exciting as it was my first experience working on set, even if it was mostly observation. Our team was growing at this point and we were able to repurpose the footage from three different campaigns into social ads. As the work continued to build, our figma file evolved to become smarter and more efficient making use of variants to help streamline production work.
